Signs of life: a few adults reported in the last week. Steelhead opener in the upper river (January 1) "should be a pretty good one, based on the number of adult steelhead that have been climbing the ladder at the Hatchery." 2150 CFS (vs 2000 avg).
No new reports except on Kiene's discussion board -- "a few reports of large adult winter steelhead...but not many" -- "a few half-pounders" (which has been the exception, not the rule). 2180 CFS (vs 2050 avg), up from 2050 Sunday.
"steelhead numbers increasing" in Nimbus Hatchery -- "some weighing well over 10 pounds." But no catches reported. Flows down to 2000 CFS (vs 2200 avg).

Releases are in the middle of being staggered downward -- now at 3000 CFS (vs 2000 avg), from 4000 last saturday. Kiene's: scheduled to drop to 2500 on 10/31, which should help, and is Bill Kiene's "favorite flow for wading for steelhead on the american". Keep your fingers crossed. No new reports.
3500 CFS for 2 days (vs 2000 avg, and after extended 4000 CFS). No new reports, though Kiene's discussion indicates lack of action. Apparently still good numbers of salmon in the upper river -- see this report and this one. But no corresponding boost to steelhead.
Not much to get excited about on Kiene's. Planned drop to 3500 sunday morning (after ~3 weeks at 4000). 4000 CFS > a week (vs 2000 avg).
4000 CFS > a week (vs 1800 avg). No new steelhead reports (report below is on salmon, whcih are going strong). Downgrade due to absence of steelhead reports.
