"Now is the time to get over to the Deschutes as both the Golden Stones and Salmonflies are out all the way up to Warm Springs."
5/12-5/13 trip: "Had some decent luck fishing the islands, with most of our action on steelhead and salmon smolts. They were taking stonefly nymphs (Pat's & Jimmy Rubber Legs) in black and brown, and Copper John's as our terminal flies."
"Although these flows are a little on the high side, clarity has been excellent and the trout are gorging on stonefly nymphs. We even saw one adult salmonfly last night at the Trout Creek boat ramp. It won't be long! There's still some BWOs and March Brown mayflies hatching midday."
"The river conditions have dramatically improved over the last week. The flow out of the dam is currently a bit above 6000 c.f.s. which is a great flow for trout fishing. We are beginning to see the occasional big bug flying around particularly in the middle of the day which bodes well for the coming weeks."
"Well it was bound to happen at some point, the river is gigantic. If you do venture out to the river be sure to target the back eddies and heavily structured banks."

"March Brown hatch has been very consistent with at least one hour of great dry fly fishing in the middle of the day. Harley guided a couple days last week and said he had consistent fishing despite the high water. Nymph fishing has been great both before and after the hatch."

As of 4/2: "river conditions are improving as far as color, however, river levels are still at 7,500 CFS from Pelton near Madras. Water temperature is 45 degrees (F), So things are going to be tough, and its going to take a few more days, at least, to settle down to fishable conditions as far as the level of the Deschutes."
