A-section: "Very inconsistent. Some days good, some days bad. Smaller terrestrials have been most productive for me still."
"Green River Fly-fishing conditions are good and the river corridor is spectacular in fall color. Similar to our other waters, the Green River is fishing better than average for this late in the year. Dry fly fishing is still quite good with terrestrials and some smaller mayflies. We’re getting to the time of year when the Green Rivers trout really start hitting the streamers."
"With the nice weather, warm sunny afternoon fly-fishing with terrestrial is where it's at. You can pull some nice browns or a spunky rainbow on streamers before the sun is on the water or after it gets tucked in behind the rivers canyon walls. With the sun on the water terrestrial patterns or a hopper with a small tungsten dropper will do the nicely. Although you can do well throughout the day, the most pleasant part of the day is when you'll enjoy the best fishing."
9/24: "Fishing is a little challenging right now, ants caddis betles, and crickets are working at times.nymphing is good with light tippet."
A section: "Very inconsistent. Some days good, some days bad. Smaller terrestrials have been most productive for me still."
"Look for Trico and small mayfly spinner falls around 10am. These spinner falls get the fish looking up and can be the best fishing of the day. Fish small dry flies such as ants, or beetles in the mornings. Double dry set ups and dry dropper are producing as well. In the afternoon switch to larger dries such as Chernbobyl Ants, Hoppers, or Crickets. There are also some caddisflies bouncing around."
"Fishing : Good. Hatches: Caddis, Hoppers, PMD. Best Techniques: Streamers, nymphing, dries, dry and dropper. Best Times: All day."
"Fly-fishing on the Green River, continues to be quite good. Typical of this river, it is very consistent. It has had some rough years do to fire and drought, but its back from the impacts of these past events. Last year we saw significant changes in the Green River’s trout population; especially their overall improvement in health. As we enter September we’re seeing some of the years and decades best fish. Terrestrials are producing the best fishing: Ants, beetles and hoppers, but there are a few hatches remaining as well."
"A-section: Good Dry flyfishing has been Good. Pretty much terrestrials at this point. I have had success to rising fish with #20 tricos. Nymph fishing has been Good. Scuds, woolly buggers, and worms are the most productive. The pic shown to the right are scuds in various sizes. B-Section: Good Dry flyfishing has been Good but inconsistent. Terrestrial time. Nymph fishing has been Good. Woolly buggers, Scuds and wine zebra midges.
"Fly-fishing the Green River remains good. Compared to much of the west which is struggling with summer heat Utah’s Green River and most of our other waters are fishing well and are in excellent shape. With the rivers trout now keying on terrestrials our crew of Green River Guides and clients are seeing some of the year’s biggest fish being caught. Flows remain unchanged and in good shape. We are still seeing caddis hatches and the rivers prolific midges, but its the rivers land born insects that are generating the best fishing, most days."
"Fly-fishing the Green River in August historically is quite good. Given how July is ending, history is going to repeat itself. Some long standing clients who just finished up a 3 day Guided Green River Trip with us who have fished the Green for years said it was their best big fish trip in over a decade. Typically this time of year is very consistent on this river, especially the dry fly fishing. Traffic is down and the entire Green River corridor fishes well. With flows remaining unchanged wade and drift fishing is quite good. Terrestrials, in particular hoppers, are becoming more of a factor as the rivers aquatic hatches taper off. That said there are still some good caddis hatches."
From 7/22: "Fishing on the Green River is good - not crazy good like early July but still very productive. The Yellow Sally Stoneflies are almost over, but Caddis flies continue to produce quality fish on top. There are PMD spinners hitting the water around 10:30am and there are crickets everywhere."
"Dry fly fishing and fishing in general continues to be quite good on the Green River. The rivers prolific Yellow Sally hatch that produced some of the years best fishing are about finished up, but the good Caddis and PMD hatches are generating excellent fly-fishing opportunities in their own right. As we head into August, terrestrials will start to become a factor, Hoppers in particular."
"The fishing on the Green River is very good! Yellow Sally Stoneflies and Caddis flies continue to produce quality fish on top. There are PMD spinners hitting the water around 10:30am and there are crickets everywhere.
"Better fishing conditions has increased traffic on the Green. Hatches: Cicada's, Crickets, Stones, yellow Sallies, and some Caddis."
"The fishing on the Green River is very good! Yellow Sally Stoneflies and Caddis flies are fluttering about making it look like snow when they are dropping their eggs. There are some PMD's around and crickets everywhere."
"Cicadas are still buzzing in the trees and we are starting to see a few Yellow Sallies popping."
"Fly-fishing on the Green River is good, but it’s not where we thought it would be given we have had Cicadas in the canyon for a number of weeks now. Weather has had as much to do with it as anything."
