10/21: "No big changes this week. Fishing remains good. October caddis are active near sunset. There are rainbows and browns, some rainbrowns too, eating emerging caddis along the edges of the river. The Power House #2 riffle is a great spot to fish. Anglers suspending #18-20 black or brown midges or mayfly patterns are hooking up! Hat Creek closes for the 2012 season on November 15th. Look for October Caddis along the section of Hat Creek downstream of HWY 299."

"Fishing is fair. Best fishing is in the morning when trout are rising to midges and BWO’s in riffles and on the flats. Some caddis and BWO around just before dark. October caddis pupa are actively crawling along the bottom. High stick nymphing riffles midday with an October caddis nymph will bring some fish to hand. Fishing will last longer throughout the day with the start of cloudy skies and rain. Hat is worth a look late October. The fishing pressure on the creek is pretty low during the fall season." "The best fishing has been in the early hours of the day this week. Thanks to a "midge hatch", the rainbows and browns of Hat Creek search the waters surface for emerging #18-22 midges for about two hours. By 10:00 AM, the midge-bite subsides."
No reports.
"The fishing has been fair this week. Best fishing happens in the late AM hours and then again near sunset. Look for rainbows eating #16-18 caddis in the AM hours and a sparse hatch of pale evening duns near sunset. A dry-dropper set up has been working great for some anglers. Cooler daytime temperatures and the shorter days of autumn will produce better fly fishing."
9/8: "The fishing has picked up on Hat Creek over the past few days. Pro guide Mike Parker said the best action happens mid day (11:00AM-1:00PM) for a couple hours and then it's pretty quiet after that. Look for the fishing to improve over the next couple weeks."

"You should find good fishing in the Power House #2 riffle near sunset. No big changes over the past week. Fishing has been best in the late afternoon through sunset. Sometimes there's a good PED hatch near sunset." "Fishing is fair. Best fishing is in the morning for trout feeding on tricos around 8am and again after 5pm with trout keying on caddis and PMD’s before dusk. Some cooler weather will improve hatches."
"No big changes over the past week. Fishing has been best in the late afternoon through sunset. Look to the Power House #2 riffle for best results."
"Look to the Power House #2 riffle for best results. Seems like you can always find a fish or two here. Sometime there's a good PED hatch near sunset on Hat Creek. Bring any dry fly in #19, cream colored. Have a few #18 Light Cahills on standby." "Fishing is fair. Best fishing is in the morning for trout feeding on tricos around 8am."
"The Power House #2 Riffle offers the most consistent fishing on Hat Creek at this time of the summer. Nymphing with #18 Copper Johns, #18-20 Black Zebra Midges and WD-40s should produce the hook ups. The early evening fishing has been the best!"

"Fishing is starting to slow with the summer heat. Get out by 7am and nymph the PH2 riffle with PMD nymphs and small caddis pupa." "Hat is fishing best in the early AM hours, then again near sunset."
"Hat has been fishing fair to good. Mid day hatches of baetis and PMDs can put the rainbows on the surface. Seems like the best results come in the early AM hours on the PH#2 riffle and then again near sunset. Checkout the Carbon Flat section between 11:00 and 1:00 for possible top water feeding rainbows.
"we decided to head over to hat for the last couple hours. Hat was fishing very well and we picked up a bunch of fish. We even ran into some wildlife..."
"Today I guided half of the day on Fall River and the other half on Hat Creek. They both fished really well."
"Look for mid day Salmon Fly and Golden Stone hatches along the lower sections of Hat Creek. Best fishing has been late in the day, near sunset. The Power House #2 riffle and flats downstream have been fishing consistently. There's a good hatch of PMD's and baetis from about 10:00 AM through 2:00 PM. Sometimes, you can find rising rainbows along the flats mid day. Look near weeds (in the river)."
"Hat Creek is in good shape. A few slamon flies fluttering about. The hatches of those big bugs are a little behind schedule this year. Lots of PMD's in #18 and #18 Caddis in the late afternoon through early evening. A few golden stones are out as well."
"Good hatches of Caddis in the early evening hours. Swinging leeches has been a go-to method lately with anglers reporting good results in the AM hours, then again at sunset. Fishing has been good for some, fair for others. Bring Salmon Fly dries. Those big orange and black bugs are out. Golden stones too!"
