"Seems like the fishing has been great one day, then tough the next. Knowing were to be near the end of the day is critical for those drifting the river. Are you drifting the river? Insect hatches have been great. Caddis, PMDs, Golden Stones and Little Yellow Sallies can be observed all day. The late afternoon, early evening fishing has been best. Results will vary."
"Flows are up to 10,200 CFS. The Lower Sacramento is fishing is great. The rainbows are just starting to key on summertime caddis flies like Poopahs, Birds Nests. Goldenstone patterns are great choice."
"The warm weather has the summer caddis (Hydropsyche) hatching in force and the fish have responded with aggressive feeding starting in the late morning and continuing into early evening. At current flows wading opportunities are very limited." Comments on Kiene's.
"In recent days the fishing has been fair on the Lower Sac. It’s definitely stepped down."
4/25: "completely stellar day. Besides a little rain knocking down the pollen that makes me sneezy and miserable, we hooked at least 25 fish today - SWINGING SPEY RODS and SOFT HACKLE flies and LEECHES."
