"The upper McKenzie is fishing well throughout the day with a plethora of insect life. Short Winged Stones, October Caddis, small brown and orange caddis, Blue Winged Olives and Gray Drakes. The lower McKenzie has a bit more water in it than some years and fishing has been improving steadily. Have some smaller bugs for the lower river but similar patterns. Look at the float from Armitage Park down to Cross Roads or Armitage to Hayes Lane(Marshall Island)." "On the McKenzie River fishing has been fair to good for rainbows and cutthroat." Some luck fishing eggs below spawning salmon.
No new reports, thus downgrade.
"The Middle Fork of the Willamette and the McKenzie Rivers are fishing well as Fall approaches. River levels are perfect, insect activity is increasing and angler activity/fishing pressure is decreasing."
"Summer Steelhead Fly Fishing on the McKenzie and Willamette Improving. Cooler weather is headed our way this weekend and early next week. Water levels and temperatures are ideal for swinging classic wet flies for Summer Steelhead." No more details.

"The trout action over the last several weeks was very consistent, with fish being taken regularly on a dry fly and dropper nymph along with swung softhackled wet flies."
May be a week old: "Trout fishing on the McKenzie on the days with spotty rain showers was nothing short of stellar, and the other days offers consistent action and some very nice memorable fish. On two of the recent outings on the McKenzie, we literally lost count of the fish, and had no idea by lunchtime how many fish were on and landed."
No new reports.
"We ended up fishing for trout only on the McKenzie, and it was really good fishing. Fishing with a Chubby Chernobyl Norm and a possie bugger dropper was a total hit. Also swinging wet flies (green riffle diver and a green wired soft hackle) were very effective."
No reports, but flows down to 2700 (vs 1800 avg).
No new reports. Call ahead.
Down to 2800 CFS. "the famous McKenzie Green Caddis have been coming off in good enough numbers to become the target of many "hit and runs" for the river's trout."
No reports. Appears blown at 4500 CFS.
"if it is windy, the fishing trends towards slower and tough. When the wind is light or non-existent, the fishing is steady to good. Yesterday, the fishing was very consistent at times, and fish were caught on swung wet flies, nymphing, and also with a dry fly and nymph dropper. Yesterday, we saw a decent March Brown hatch, and it caused the fish to have interest in the surface for a short while. Water levels are looking really good lately."
