7/19 -- POOR

Flows down to 3100 CFS (vs. 1400 avg). Float, don't wade. Potential for march browns, caddis, mayflies and midges. No real reports fishing results. Call ahead.

7/14 -- POOR

Flows 3500 CFS, down from 6000 last week (vs. 1400 avg). Fish edges with dries. No convincing reports of success. Conservative rating of "poor" -- maybe should be "poor and 1/2". But definitely getting closer to an upgrade.

Down to 4000 CFS (from 8000 a week ago), "fishable", but average is 1400. No word on trout (just shad).

Flow gauge not operating right now. Was between 8000 and 10,000 recently, way too high for good fishing. Also very hot (100+ for a few days). Go somewhere else.

Flows up to 9000 (like the feather). No new reports. Close to unfishable. Damn!

Flows above 7000 CFS now (up 2500 CFS in 24 hrs), probably due to rain. The minor luck before this will likely be squashed by the flows.

Flows at 7000 CFS but clear (float don't wade). Fish the edges with baetis, stones, PMD's and big attractors.

Flows too high for decent fishing (5600 CFS). Floating can make sense below 5000 CFS, and wading below 1500 CFS.

River is high and virtually unwadeable (7000 CFS) -- best bet is to float with a guide (also some shade entering). Some heavy rain last few days (!). Try baetis.
